For two weeks, 25 Sacred Heart Students from around the globe got to participate in a program called Faces of the Heart which was hosted at La Perverie in Nantes, France During the first week, students learned about the importance of sustainability through discussion, field trips, Skype conferences while participating in activities such as cooking, shopping at local farmers markets. We were also able to explore the beautiful city of Nantes in our free time through shopping and scavenger hunts, and the spirit of exchange, students also got to spend the day with a host family from the school, exploring daily French family lifestyle . There was never a dull moment during the trip, we were constantly on the move. The itinerary was packed with activities ranging from canoe races, community service trips, and cooking demonstrations. We also got the chance to visit Le Puy du Fou, thoroughly enchanted by the beauty of the park and its quality performances, animations and special effects. Every meal was buttery and delicious and the company only made it better. We all came from different places and backgrounds but none of that mattered, in such a short time, we had become a family. Plus working together on the different projects was such a blast. Faces of the Heart created an environment where everyone’s ideas and opinions were respected and valued. I miss everyone so much and I hope that I will be able to visit some of them soon! by Sabrina - SHP'17
Hi all, Sabrina here! In a few days I will be voyaging off to France to take part in a new program called Faces of the Heart. For two weeks, Sacred Heart students from around the globe will come together in La Perverie in Nantes to hold discussions and create projects on the different aspects what it means to be a child of the Sacred Heart. We will also be visiting the hometown of St. Madeline Sophie and then spend our final days of the trip in Paris! Personally, I am extremely ecstatic about this trip. I love meeting new people and going to new places, plus I will be able to utilize my language studies in the actual country! Not only is this my very first time visiting Europe, but I will be spending my 17th birthday there as well! I would like to thank Dr. Farrington Padilla, Mme. Harvey, and Mme. Jeler for all their help with preparing and providing me with such a fantastic opportunity! |
